Perhaps foolishly, I’ve decided to run the London marathon for a third time. Given my pitiful lack of training, I need all the motivation I can get when things get tough around Canary Wharf - so please sponsor me if you can! 

I chose to support Centepoint because the rising problem of homelessness among young people is something we’ve been covering a lot at the Guardian, where it was also the focus of our Christmas appeal. This piece by Sali Hughes explains the issues better than I can:
