Paris Marathon 2014 · 6 April 2014 ·

We are the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We help people out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.

Story

Always on the lookout for a bargain, Rich and Owen have decided that the cheapest way to see Paris is to run around it for 26 miles. Forget open-top bus tours; marathon tourism is the next big thing. So on the 6th April, they'll take to the streets of the French capital for the Paris Marathon, hoping to raise some money for homelessness charity, Crisis, in the process.

On any one night in 2013, 2,414 people were sleeping rough in England. For every person sleeping on the streets, there were another 100 in hostels and 1,100 more families living in overcrowded accommodation.  On average, homeless people die at just 47.

Those most vulnerable, such as families with children, can apply to receive housing assistance from their local authority. For single homeless people, with no children, getting support can be much more difficult.

Crisis is the national charity for single homeless people, helping them to access healthcare, housing, education and employment. Last year, they helped 3,710 people find a home. You can find more information here (http://www.crisis.org.uk/)
