At PeacePlayers International - Northern Ireland we use sport - in particular the game of basketball - to build bridges between children and young adults who live in divided communities. Our programmes are based on the belief that children who play together can learn to live together.

Junior Champions4Peace

The Junior Champions4Peace group is made up of participants from our junior (9-14 yrs old) programmes; Primary School Twinnings, Junior Belfast Interface League, U13 Basketball Team and Belfast Interface Games.

PPI-NI believes that a combination of basketball knowledge, community relations and Sport 4 Change is essential to become a PeacePlayers coach. Junior Champions4Peace, meet at least once a month. These meetings provide an inside look at what goes on at PPI-NI. Each month the young people will participate in community relations discussions, sports training or fundraising planning.

Another key part to the programme is the relationship this group develops with similar groups across the world. Each year the Champions4Peace will connect with a group of young people to share their experiences of Northern Ireland and PeacePlayers with other children across the world, whilst learning about their communities. The C4Ps will also share their understanding of Sport4Change by running a Game of 3 Halves for the host group and assisting the host group to run their own GO3H with sports from their culture.
