This is the page for information about the trip and to make donations to the Make a Wish Foundation. I promised I'd share the funds raised by my next trip with the great people at Make a Wish.
The other charity I support is the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and you can donate to that worthy cause instead, or as well (!) at http://justgiving.com/Roy-Everitt
Paris to Venice will be quite a long trip, over about 12 days in September, and obviously involves crossing the Alps. It stems from a trip I helped support back in 2007, when the other three members of this year's team cycled the Pyrenees end to end - Atlantic to Mediterranean - that made me very proud and even more jealous. Since then I've done the English coast to coast twice - or three times really, since we did it both ways last September.
We will make it! Provisional dates for this year's adventure are around 6th to 20th September.
UPDATE: This will be a 14 day trip of 905 miles according to our latest route plan. We'll be taking in as many mountains and countries as possible - France, Germany, Austria, Leichtenstein, Switzerland and Italy. We'll also be camping most nights if not all, which means carrying lightweight tents as well. It is going to mean 14 consecutive days averaging 70 miles or 105 km per day. I, for one, have never done anything this strenuous before, so I'll either be fitter than ever before by the time we get to Venice or dead!
I think it will be the former, and training is, at last, going quite well. We'll be making our second trip to the Yorkshire Dales soon and we've also had a couple of days in the Cotswolds and some long day rides. But there will be a lot more to do before I'm ready for the Alps - if I ever am...
