Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit John and Chris' JustGiving page.

Now we are all well aware that charity is a buzz word in the media at the moment and there is an endless conveyor belt of Marathon TV shows telling you that if you don't give your hard earned cash so that celebrities can ring up their famous friends and go on a bit of a Jolly and get themselves on TV then you are a bad human being......

Ok..Ok... fair enough, that is a harsh look at the countries charitable culture and there have been some very worthy causes and feats of human endurance to be seen over the last few years (Not least Eddie Izzards marathon man).

However the essence of this site and this event is about everyday men and women all over the world performing physically and mentally demanding tasks for no better reason than to give something back to society.

We are a pair of average Joe's (even if Parro would never admit it!), who have normal everyday jobs, and normal everyday lives. But we are also two people who realise how lucky we are and how easy it is to get caught up inside the bubble that is your own day to day routine. It can be hard to fathom how anyone without the Twitter profile of Bono and Madonna combined could ever make the slightest bit of difference to someone less fortunate.

But the truth is we can. So....with a relatively small amount of sacrifice and an even smaller amount of will power, Hallo and Parro (John and Chris) are hoping to do something that we have probably never done before in our lives.....To achieve a goal that doesn't involve a trophy to gloat about or a lifetime of bragging rights!... Oh and hopefully get to the top of Kilimanjaro.

Charity by definition is the giving of something significant without the want of reward or recognition. With that in mind we will not bore you with stories and anecdotes of others who have climbed Kilimanjaro or with hundreds of pictures of the vast snow capped peak itself…. because that isn't why we would like you to donate. As we see it, the feat is irrelevant but the cause is everything.

So please, just take a few moments to review the link to the Rainbow Trust Charity. Have a look at what they do and who they help, it’s a great cause and one that doesn’t get a lot of publicity. There will be no minimum donations set and no target figure, all we ask is that you give whatever you feel you can spare.

Thankyou

It is important for people to know that all the money collected through our just giving page will go directly to the Rainbow Trust. Myself and Chris have already paid for the full price of the trip with no subsidy from the Charity and no money will be going towards expenses.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
