Based in Manchester, MedEquip4Kids improves the health of babies and children in the UK by providing equipment not available from limited NHS resources. Because we value all aspects of children’s wellbeing, we also deliver workshops in schools to support young people’s mental health.

Story

Welcome to our JustGiving page.

Thanks to all those who sponsored Ashley's last fund raising event - long distance kiyaking - that raised more than £4000 for childrens medical equipment.

At that time Ashley (our Managing Director) was inspired by the recovery of his youngest daughter from a life threatening blood disorder. She was 5 at the time and they left Manchester Childrens hospital, leaving behind many children whose futures were less than optimistic. Ashley wanted to give back and soon after, kayaked the Leeds to Liverpool canal to raise the money.

Then it happened again less than 2 years ago, Freya's red blood cells being attacked once again and hospitalised accordingly. Again, the care and expertise of the doctors brought her back to good health. Today, her condition remains undiagnosed and has no way of knowing when it may re-occur. The nurse's wish list for additional equipment, that dramatically helps the speed of care, has inspired Ashley to raise money again.

The policy of Medequip4kids is to fund items known to improve the care provided to children, but not readily available within the NHS' limited budgets, especially the smaller hospitals.

We want to inspire you and others to give something to this worthwhile cause. This time, Ashley is supported by 3 volunteers from where he works, all keen to make a difference.
