Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

30 years ago my Wife, Nicola, lost her Father to a heart attack, and of course back then Defibrillators were scarce and hard to get hold of. Nowadays there is no excuse, and everyone should be near to a Defib.

I noticed our Village was lacking a Public Defibrillator, and with the Ambulance Service being stretched to it's limits, I'm not confident if a Passfield resident was to suffer a heart attack medical help would be available quickly.

Not only will this fundraising provide a defibrillator available to everyone, hopefully in the telephone box next to the Passfield Stores, but also CPR training for every resident who wishes to come along to a session.

About the charity

The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk
