30 for 30 · 30 May 2018

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

I have set myself the challenge of running 30 races from April 2018-April 2019. These will be a series of different distances - everything from 10kms to marathons!

The Virgin London Marathon 2019 will be the final race in my Project '30 for 30'.

I am running to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of my boyfriend’s wonderful Mum who was taken far too soon. 2019 will mark 25 years since this amazing lady ran the London Marathon and 10 years since I first ran it. As it is always around the time of my Birthday, I also thought it would be a memorable way to enter my thirties...

We miss Karen every day and I carry her memory with me across all those finish lines. (I can also hear her saying quite loudly 'This is pretty bloody crazy, sweetie!') Nonetheless, my hope is that in running in her memory, I will raise money to help further research into pancreatic cancer and hopefully contribute to helping find a prevention or treatment of this cruel disease. The world isn't the same without her and, quite simply, it isn't fair.

However cheesey it sounds, any donation is hugely appreciated!
