Reading Half Marathon 2011 · 20 March 2011 ·

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

In memory of Gordon Pirie

This is the 2nd time that I'll be running Reading HM for a cancer charity, and I've chosen Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of Gordon who died of Pancreatic Cancer. Gordon was a very good runner, who inspired us all in the family. But seeing such a nice silver and bronze long distance olympic runner being eaten alive by Pancreatic Cancer, and seeing the suffering on Jennifer who cared for him until the end, and John who published Gordon's book after his death, I wish to keep his memory alive today. I still run sometimes thinking about Gordon's advice on running and life.

The donations will be given in memory of Gordon Pirie to Pancreatic Cancer UK. I've paid my own place at Reading Half Marathon, so all the proceeds will go to the charity.
