Hercules Virtual marathon · 8 December 2020

The RHDRSA helps preserve and maintain the miniature trains and infrastructure on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway for the benefit and education of the public. We raise money to support the railway priorities and help and encourage those who want to volunteer.

Story

The RHDR has a proud history. Since its founding 93 years ago it has served holiday makers and locals alike –and was even requisitioned during the war to improve the coastal defences. However, along with other heritage railways, the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway has been badly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Together with the Railway, the Association is fundraising to ensure that the RHDR not only survives safely this winter but also steams on to its centenary in 2027.

The Hercules (named after one of the iconic little engines) virtual marathon is 27 miles. The length of a round trip on the railway. It can be done in one go or, luckily for Pat, installments. Distance is tracked using running apps and logged with the organisers so no cheating 😂🏃‍♀️🏃
