Story
Since February 2015, I've worked as a Volunteer for the King's Sierra Leone Partnership (KSLP), based at Connaught Hospital in Freetown, Sierra Leone. The time has seen a great deal of change, from the grips of the epidemic to rebuilding and recovering from Ebola. Having worked as a Doctor in a variety of projects in several countries, I am proud to say that KSLP is the best. The team have the right ethos and skills to support Connaught and the Sierra Leonian Healthcare system do the best they can with incredibly tight resources.
In June 2016 I am leaving the King's team to return to work in the UK, as I leave I'm taking some time to cycle, from Vancouver, Canada to Los Angeles, USA. I am sure it will be a time of contrast and different experiences from Sierra Leone, and you can follow my (and my friend Ed's!) progress at www.developingmedic.blogspot.com.
Every small donation you make is important. It allows us our nursing, doctor, laboratory and physiotherapy volunteers to support the education and capabilities of the hospital students and staff to care for their patients. In one of the most challenging healthcare systems in the world, i'm sure you can imagine this is no easy task. You can find out more about our team and our all programmes, from Internal Medicine to Mental Health and Anaesthesia at www.kslp.org.uk
