The Hannah Memorial Academy is a charitable trust dedicated to supporting a school in Darjeeling built in memory of Hampshire schoolgirl Hannah Foster. The objective of the school is to provide free education for the poorest children of the region. The work of the Trust is fully supported by Hannah's parents Hilary and Trevor Foster. Story

The body of 17-year old Hannah was discovered in the West End district of Southampton in March 2003.

Partly because of his understanding of English, Jason Lepcha, a taxi driver, was hired as a driver in Darjeeling by the chief murder suspect who had fled to India in the aftermath of the tragedy. Jason subsequently saw and responded to a national appeal for information which led to the arrest of the suspect.

In return for this, Jason received £4569 from the Hampshire Police. He is an educated but poor man who had a vision of free education for all poor children. Instead of spending the reward on himself, Jason used the money and help from the local villagers to secure a plot of land on which he has built an English school in Hannah's name.

I hope you understand why we want to support this wonderful charity and hope you do too.
