We fundraise for families & sick babies to give them practical & emotional support.

Story

I'm going to be running the Oxford Half Marathon in memory of our son, Wilfred Alexander Holmes and to support SSNAP who do fantastic work looking after sick newborns and their families.

Wilf was born on the 24th June 2019 and we were able to spend 2 days with him until we had to say goodbye in the evening on Wednesday 26th June. We're so very proud of how brave he was and wanted to do something for his memory and make sure that families who might have the same terrible experience get the same support that we've been able to get.

All the consultants, doctors, nurses, and midwives at the John Radcliffe looked after all 3 of us amazingly and SSNAP help fund essentials for the Neonatal Care Unit which provided that care. Please do take a look at their website: https://www.ssnap.org.uk/what-we-do

We would be so very grateful for anything you can spare to support my run for SSNAP.

Patrick, Lucy, and Wilf

In the UK, 1 in 10 babies need specialist care at birth. SSNAP supports sick & premature babies and their families in the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Imagine your newborn baby needing specialist care at birth. Instead of those very special days getting to know your baby as a family, you’re catapulted into an unfamiliar world of incubators, wires, medical tests and interventions. While your baby has specialist treatment, we provide emotional and practical support to help you through the trauma & upheaval. We’re there to help families cope, and provide state-of-the-art medical equipment and nursing expertise that could save babies lives.
