We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

On the 18th of August last year my mother, Imelda Apps passed away in the grips of a cancer called Angiosarcoma for three long years she was nursed, chemotherapied, researched, lifted, studied, loved, radiotherapied and imbued with hope by the Royal Marsden hospital  in London, to whom i'll be forever grateful and pledge my support to make sure that others across the country will too experience the same undying courage that the Marsden gave my mother.

and what do with grief? i'm trekking a marathon....

On the 18th of May i'll be starting out in the old town of Lewes where my ancestors were born, the trekking route will lead me cross rolling hills, high ridges, long barrows, ancient earthworks and at last magnificent panoramas over the English Channel. After much stiff climb and descent, the final stretch will see me over the white chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, before finishing on the highest chalk sea cliff in England – the beautiful headland of Beachy Head. 26 miles / 41.8429 km in total.

"The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer."

My goal is to raise a minimum of One Thousand Pounds for them with your faith and charity in me, you'll be raising a life saving currency with each step i take. with love and gratitude, always

p.s / the photograph above was taken in 1990 by the river in Wandsworth, beginning of an endless summer, I’ve kept it close over the last six months, an imperfect portrait of innocence, as if we are both synchronized in daydreaming,  one eyes closed the others open wide, the audacity of hope and happiness, two things the Royal Marsden brought my mother in the 3 years she fought her cancer.
