Story
Hi
My name is Paul, a ski-aholic GP from Warwickshire. I have skiied in the Megeve area for the past 12 years and the sky-line is dominated by the famous Mont Blanc. Everytime I look at the fantastic scenery I think, mmm, one day I am going up there, just imagine the views from the summit!
As I turn each decade older I like to set myself a challenge as I have a thing about keeping fit. Ten years ago I ran the London Marathon and with the kind help of the local community in Leamington Spa where I practice and friends in the village where I live I was able to raise over £4000 for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death(Cot Death). Time seems to have passed quickly and my fifth decade has arrived ready for the next challenge
So this is it, I am going to ascend Mont Blanc with Bronwyn my oldest daughter and get those views in that I have been promising myself on many an occasion. This time I have chosen 2 charities based on my experience with colleagues, their children and patients in the last 10 years. Retinoblastoma, a childhood eye cancer and Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow in adults are probably lesser known illnesses but still just as devastating as the more common malignant conditions.
If I can help these 2 charities it will make me feel all the more fulfilled in achieving this personal challenge.
Many thanks for reading my story so far and making a donation
