Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dear All,

Before I tell you about our next adventure, I would like to thank each and everyone of you once again for your past kind donations. Richard, Georgie and Tim have been overwhelmed with what has been raised so far. Having completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Just!), we are now going to attempt the National 3 Peaks (Hopefully, in the alloted 24 hours). I've had people say that we must be mad! Maybe we are... but we all feel that continuing to raise awareness and the funds for such worthy charities, comes way before our sanity!!

Cheers,

Paul

I asked Richard to share some of his thoughts...

"I’m delighted that my son-in-law Paul is planning to do the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Grove House. To his credit already he has done a sponsored bike ride from Nottingham to Skegness. In 2008 I took part in the Herts 10K Challenge with my son. He and I and my daughter were planning to repeat this in 2009. Sadly we were prevented from doing so because my wife Dilys was already critically ill and died a few days after the event took place. Nevertheless our sponsors generously honoured the pledges they had made."

"Why are we so keen as a family to support Grove House? Simply because we owe a huge debt of gratitude for all that we have received from this wonderful place. For me it was a year of professionally but warmly delivered TLC at the Day Hospice after my diagnosis and treatment for prostate cancer; for Dilys several months of the same gentle support and practical help during the latter stages of bowel cancer. We are so glad to know that everything we can raise will go towards providing care for many others affected by life threatening illnesses."
