We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

I’m going to be doing my first ever official half marathon at the Cardiff Half on Sunday 7th October 2018.

I’ve chosen to raise money and awareness for a charity that does amazing work; CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). CALM is a leading movement against male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45.

I lost a close friend earlier this year to suicide which hit me really hard. I felt somehow responsible and should have done more. I continuously questioned myself on whether I could have done more to prevent it happening, but in reality, I solely couldn’t have. Accepting that doesn’t make it any easier but it does help me understand how important the work that CALM does, it brings me comfort knowing that there are support mechanisms in place that could potentially save lives.

I’ll be running the half marathon in memory of Jack and any donations will be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will be donated to CALM so that they can continue supporting men and doing the great work they do, work that really does make a difference!

Please like, comment and share to raise awareness of the charity and the services they offer in case one of your friends are struggling quietly like mine was.
