Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis, working to create a world where diabetes can do no harm. It’s a fight that involves all of us – sharing knowledge and taking diabetes on together. Join us.

Story

I took up cycling nearly 3 years ago as a way of getting my strength back after major surgery. It's become an important part of my life now and I try to undertake a ride for a charity each year.

This year I wanted to ride for Diabetes UK as my wife is a long-term diabetic and I know first-hand that the charity does a wonderful job funding research, providing support, awareness and education.

I couldn't find an organised event and decided to arrange my own. This is not just a bike ride. I would feel awkward asking for donations for something I would be doing anyway. No, this ride of 120km (75miles) will be a personal challenge. It is far more than I have ever done before in one day and will not be easy for me.

This will be a solo effort with Michele (my wife) providing backup, support and encouragement along the way. Hopefully she will be accompanied by at least one daughter!

So feel the pain with me and help all diabetics everywhere and show them that we care.
