This has been a frustrating exercise. My original desire was to jump solo but The British Parachute Association determined that, at 61 years old, I was too old. If I cared to go abroad and get my ‘ticket’ then I could return and jump to my heart’s content. The result is that I am only permitted to carry out a tandem skydive; the upside is that I get to be in the air longer! How's that for value? The Border Collie Trust is an organisation which is very close to my heart. As you are no doubt aware, the Trust has been the saviour of many a border collie. The Trust has the added problem of dealing with a breed which is not only a pet but also a working dog: this, obviously, requires different talents..The Border Collie is the most wonderful breed; it lives to please and is gifted with a very high level of intelligence. It really is like having a mate as it senses your emotions, whether they be sad or happy, and is always there to ‘make things better’ or delight with you in your joy.I recently lost one of my ‘brood’. Charlie, who died at the age of just over 15, was an exceptional dog. He always had the border collie smile for everyone and, through ‘Pets as Therapy’ brought much joy, love and comfort to the sick and elderly he visited. He never failed to delight children at the County Fairs when partaking in the Agilty Course; he never did it without stopping halfway round the course for a cuddle!
He is dearly, dearly missed and will never be forgotten. This jump is for Charlie; for his devotion and all the joy he brought to everyone. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
