Byte Night North West 2016 · 7 October 2016 ·

We protect and support children and young people, providing practical and emotional care and support. We ensure their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives. Our vision is that every child and young person has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.

Story

In the UK there are an estimated 300,000 young homeless people at any one given night. 62% of the young people that are supported by homelessness organisations, became homeless because of relationship breakdowns with family, friends or a partner. The stark statistics are:

  • 30% are dependent on alcohol
  • 40% are dependent on drugs.
  • 30% self-harm.
  • 41% have mental health problems

Byte Night is a national sleep out event which is one of the UK’s top 20 mass participation charity events and is the largest charity sleep-out having raised over £8.2 million since the first event in supporting the young homeless.

Each year thousands of people and teams from technology and other business sectors give up their beds for a night to help change the lives of young people through tackling the root causes of homelessness.  This keeps vulnerable young people off the streets and enables them to build better lives.

Over recent months KPMG Manchester have been helping to raise awareness of the 2016 North West event with over 25 ‘new’ sleepers undertaking various fundraising activities to raise £15,000 for the night, which takes place on Friday 7th October at the Museum of Science and Industry in Central Manchester for an evening under the stars (assuming there are stars and it isn’t raining!).

As well as keeping your fingers crossed that there is good weather on the night please sponsor us for as little or as much as you can.  All donations will be gratefully received
