Dear all,

As some of you will already be aware Amanda Hedges and I are planning to take part in the Hadrian’s Wall walk in September to raise money for charity. Amanda will be fundraising for KWT, and while I will be sponsoring her to help support this very worthy charity due to personal reasons I feel compelled to help raise money for another cause, namely Cancer Research UK.

Over the last couple of years the work of the charity has helped save the lives of several people very close to me most notably my mother, but also neighbours and several volunteers that I have worked closely with. There have also been some people for whom things many have been different with earlier detection, which is another area of research.

So it is for this reason that I’m looking to you my friends and colleagues for sponsorship. I am paying the trip cost myself as my donation, so every penny of sponsorship will be going straight to Cancer Research which statistically will help 1 in 3 of us at some point in our lives. In the very near future a sponsorship form will be appearing in the staff room, as well as a Sweepstake and a donation box, and in an effort to ring every penny I can out of people I’ll be bringing a few sale items in near to the actual walk.

I do hope you will be willing and able to sponsor me, and help raise money for the vital work Cancer Research carries out.
