Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Paul suffered a stroke on the morning of May 11th 2014 whilst at home in bed. He was admitted to Wythenshawe hospital and underwent a scan which showed that the stroke he suffered was a significant one.
Paul was still joking that day and seemed to be improving the following day as he was cleared to start eating and drinking, he even questioned what all the fuss was about!? Even though he was paralysed down the entire left hand side of his body Paul never gave up, telling the doctors how hard he would be working to get himself fit again.
On the Monday night Paul started to decline as he suffered brain swelling which was only noticed the following morning when the nurses struggled to wake him.
He underwent another scan that day and the doctors said that he would need to undergo surgery to release the pressure on his brain. The doctors got in contact with the surgeons at SRI to try and arrange this but it was then deemed to be too late. We were told he only had 24hrs to live.
Paul continued to battle on the next day but 37hrs later sadly passed away.
He will be a great loss to everyone who knew him as he was the life and soul of everything he was involved in, and instantly liked by anyone who met him.
