#TeamLC are raising money to help support all those who have been affected by a blood cancer diagnosis, by running 26.2 miles around London on Sunday 2nd October 2022.

Story

Kerri was a Leukaemia patient who lost her fight 19th September 2021 after a brave 4 year battle. She was 35 years old.

She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer, in March 2017. The diagnosis was further complicated as Kerri was 6 months pregnant with our son!

After spending the next 6 months in hospital, she reached full remission and remained clear for the next 3 years. However on world Leukaemia day in 2020, we received the news that it had returned, and a stem cell transplant was the only option of fixing the problem. After finding a donor, the transplant was completed in March of 2021, but sadly it wasn’t successful and there were no further options available to us

I am running the 2022 London Marathon for Leukaemia Care, who my family passionately support. They provide advice, support & information to patients & families for those affected by blood cancer. They are the driving force behind the SpotLeukaemia campaign, which has a mission that is critical to the early diagnosis of this disease.

Did you know that 1 in 5 blood cancer patients are initially treated for something else by their GP before the correct diagnosis is made? Or that almost 20% experience symptoms for more than 7 months before the correct diagnosis is made? The campaign, which promotes education & awareness amongst GP's, hopes to improve on these figures so that more patients are diagnosed earlier, which in turn will improve leukaemia survival rates. More information on the campaign can be found at:

Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference to someone,  whether that is through an early blood cancer diagnosis via SpotLeukaemia or enabling the charity to continue providing advice, information & support to patients & families. If you can't donate, raising awareness amongst your family, friends & colleagues is just as important.
