We conduct world class medical research projects. We diagnose and treat thousands of people with epilepsy every year. We do this and much more. We are the UK’s national medical epilepsy charity. With Epilepsy Society, you don’t have to deal with epilepsy alone.

Story

You may wonder why I’ve chosen the National Society for Epilepsy to benefit from my coming of age.

When I was almost 31 and Lindy was pregnant with Nic, I went to bed one night and, much to my utter amazement, the following morning I woke up in hospital. I had had an epileptic fit in my sleep. I knew nothing about the fit but Lindy certainly did! I was fully checked out and there were no apparent reasons for its cause and there has been no recurrence since. At the time, there was little information available about epilepsy, but there were many negative perceptions, myths and misunderstandings about this condition.

The NSE was very informative and I’ve never forgotten how helpful, caring and supportive it was to me.

Its work now includes not only research, but also the promotion of awareness to combat ignorance and misunderstanding, improvements in diagnosis, and enhancing the quality of life for those with epilepsy.

If you are able to make a contribution, the NSE would very much appreciate it.
