Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I've put together a fantastic team of friends and family to complete this daunting challenge. Simply put, the UK Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the 3 highest peaks respectively in England (978m), Wales (1,085m) and Scotland (1,344m). Sounds simple enough but did I mention that includes walking 26 miles/40km, ascending 9,800 feet and driving over 450 miles all within a 24 hour period ...... not forgetting the weather (snow/rain/high winds) ..... the lack of sleep and the added extra of my team mates having to endure the sound of my singing! Apparently we still have time to pull out of this ...........
Our inspiration for doing this challenge is the work I am currently doing with Save the Children. It's an organisation I have supported for the past 20 years and they have two projects we want to support and help disadvantaged children in the UK. The two projects are, ESLP (Eat Sleep Learn Play) and FAST (Families and Schools Together). Both projects focus on supporting children in the early stages of their lives. In Britain today, one of the richest countries in the world, it is shocking that family income still affects a child's life chances.
The two projects:
Families and Schools together (FAST) is an early intervention programme bringing children, parents, schools and the wider community together to make sure the children most in needs get the academic and emotional support required to fulfil their potential at school and in life.
Eat, sleep, learn, play (ESLP) is a crisis programme that provides essential household items to families in desperate need. Save the Children support families with young children in their first 1000 days of live which is a critical period in their development.
Many poor children in the UK today start school already behind their better-off peers, through no fault of their own. Children as young as seven are on course for poorer life chances. Often, disadvantaged parents face barriers to supporting their child's educational development, including social isolation and limited confidence and skills.
We appreciate your donation and as you know it will be put towards an amazing cause.
Many thanks in advance for any donation or support you can kindly give.
Kind regards
