Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

I grew up swimming and have always loved the sea.  I started open water swimming a few years back (with a group of individuals with questionable sense who swim in the sea all year round).  Several of them have swum the Channel and I wondered if it was something I would be able to do.  The idea of swimming in cold, deep water for 15 to 20 hours sounded truly awful and incredibly difficult, so naturally I put my name down for it...

I am swimming for Hope for Guernsey, a Guernsey charity (number 221) which raises money for the Wessex Medical Trust. The mission is to raise funds for innovative research predominantly at Southampton University.  Hope for Guernsey supports research that will have a direct benefit to Islanders and humanity as a whole. I have requested that funds raised go towards research into cervical cancer.

I swim in August so the countdown has started.  Wish me luck and, most importantly, please give generously.

Thanks

Paul
