I grew up swimming and have always loved the sea.  I started open water swimming a few years back (with a group of individuals with questionable sense who swim in the sea all year round).  Several of them have swum the Channel and I wondered if it was something I would be able to do.  The idea of swimming in cold, deep water for 15 to 20 hours sounded truly awful and incredibly difficult, so naturally I put my name down for it...

I am swimming for Guernsey Chest & Heart, a local charity which provides free screening for Bailiwick residents and really does save lives.

I swim in August so the countdown has started.  Wish me luck and, most importantly, please give generously.
