I am challenging myself in memory of Darren Watkins to support Saint Francis Hospice. They supported him during the toughest stage of his illness and continue to be there for his family and others in similar positions. Many years ago they were a great help for my Nan, Olive Pretlove, during her battle.
Darren was a good friend taken too young at just 35. He was a proud, strong, successful family man who did a lot for not only those close to him but for others. He would be the first to volunteer if friends needed help and would relish a challenge. He was a keen cyclist and gym fanatic and rode the London to Paris bike ride amongst other long distance events with friends and family - he once did it on a £100 Halfords mountain bike making that challenge ridiculously and unnecessarily more difficult than for those with all the gear.
A group of friends are planning on doing the London to Paris bike ride in his honour/memory in March 2020 and I cannot attend due to commitments in the BVI (where I live). As an alternative, I have decided to sign up for an extremely challenging 54km ultra marathon - a huge challenge that I am sure Darren would fully approve of.

I am not a runner, I have run 10 miles once. This will be the ultimate physical challenge for me in honour of a great man.
Anything you can sponsor will be greatly appreciated.
