Virgin London Marathon 2015 · 26 April 2015 ·

We believe every blind veteran should be able to lead the life they choose. At Blind Veterans UK we’re one, transformational team. We provide rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support. Together we can help rebuild lives.

Story

Paul Jacobs GM joined Blind Veterans UK in 2009 after he was blinded on 20 August 2009 while serving in Helmand Province with 2nd Batallion The Rifles. In 2010 Her Majesty the Queen awarded Paul the George Medal for the courage and bravery displayed that day. His medal citation read: "His sheer personal courage and startling determination, unswerving courage, selflessness, devotion to duty and dedication to his comrades was faultless."

He continues to challenge himself and on Sunday 26 April he will compete in his second Virgin London Marathon for Blind Veterans UK.

Paul is not unusual to physical challenges as he climbed Kilimanjaro within 10 months of coming out of hospital; he has completed numerous half marathons, marathons and triathlons; cycled in tandem with his brother from Edinburgh to London; trekked across Norway in the footsteps of the Heroes of Telemark.

There seems to be no limit to Paul's ambition to fully embrace life despite his sight loss.
