Great North Swim 2009 · 12 September 2009 ·

We help Sheffield’s hospitals, community teams and health and social care services to cover costs their NHS budgets can’t. We fund support for patients and staff, life-changing research and more, so that we can enhance care from birth to the end of life and everything in between.

Story

Hi everyone,

As you may already know, Rebecca and I are swimming a mile in Lake Windermere in September. Whilst we both like swimming we tend to prefer it in the more controlled, by which I mean warmer, context of an indoor swimming pool. This is going to be quite a challenge for both of us - Rebecca's a bit nesh and I'm not overly sporty. We're raising money for Sheffield Hospital Charitable Trust because this will help give funds to places like the Macmillan palliative care unit at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield who took such good care of my Dad for the last weeks of his life. I'm very grateful to all the team there.
