Hello, I’m Paul Schiernecker of SchierneckerEtc and woowoocoolbastards, you might know me from actual real life where I am a person. I am here with an offer. You know how it really gets on your wick when people ask you for money for charity all the time, well it shouldn’t first of all, because you should be happy to do something out of the kindness of your heart but I see how you think this is a bad thing, well I have a solution to the problem of me asking you for money and you not wanting to just give it to me.
First let me explain why I want it. In October 2013 I will be setting out on a 100km trek of the Sahara desert. I have been asked to raise £500.00 (or $800) for The Prince’s Trust who run a range of training programmes, provide mentoring support and offer financial grants to build the confidence and motivation of disadvantaged young people, it’s a very worthwhile cause.
I am paying for the trip myself, so the money that I raise is going entirely to The Prince’s Trust, I don’t want you thinking I’m getting a holiday out of your charity, I’m paying for me to get out there, survive (hopefully) and get back, what I need is sponsorship so here’s my offer.
If you donate towards my trip then you will receive an email with a download of a special five track EP that I have recorded especially to fund my trek, it’s called Get Me To Marrakech and it’s pretty darn good.
The suggested donation is £5, which I don’t think is too hard going considering the awful hardships I will be facing like: having a camel spit in my face, going without my precious iPhone for a week and oh yeah, walking a hundred kilometres across a desert.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
