Story
I'm running the 2014 Great North Run in memory of my Aunty Margaret who sadly died earlier this year. Aunty Marg and her family were and still are huge supporters of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation which I am proud to be running for.
If you don't know about the SBR Foundation, take a minute to look at the website here to see what amazing work they have done and are continuing to do.
http://sirbobbyrobsonfoundation.org.uk/our-goal/I ran my first (and only) Great North Run in 1983 when I was 12, in 2hrs 20 mins so 31 years later I hope to beat that time!
I'm a husband, father, Rhodesian Ridgeback owner and cat feeder and despite moving away from Newcastle 22 years ago I've managed to bring up two Toon supporters of my own. I'm hoping that the sight of my grey, lumbering frame plodding along the 13.1 miles accompanied by the sound of my football-weary knees creaking & groaning under the immense bulk of my frame will make them as proud of me as I was of my Dad when he completed the the '82, '83 and '84 great North Runs. Oh, and he's doing it too this year!
