Story
Okay, I did spend a bit of time and money on physio and sports massage but I DID IT!!!
It was a great day yesterday, despite the trains not running from MK and the very early start...porridge at 6am anyone ?
The event was so well organised ,that even though there were16,000 taking part, and it took 17 mins to get to the start line, there was no real hassle and a great atmosphere about the place. My time was a respectable 1.56.
Thank you so much for all your kind donations and support.
It was worth the 10year wait ( one torn cartilage and a prolapsed disc did get in the way a bit).
I would love to do another but the scenery and sites were so good it will be hard to beat that location. Anyway I must get back to ice-packs on the various ailing parts of my legs.
THANK you all once again
Pauline
PREVIOUS POST......
I have finally committed to doing my first half marathon – the Royal Parks Half Marathon in Hyde Park on 6 October http://royalparkshalf.com/about.
And, as you can see, I'm raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Both of our boys have had cataract surgery on both of their eyes there. In fact, Rory’s second op was just three weeks ago.
Most people have heard of Great Ormond Street and, based on our personal experience, it really is an amazing place where wonderful things happen every day. Of course, like much of the NHS, Great Ormond Street needs all the support it can get. In their case, they need to raise £50 million each year to help rebuild and refurbish the hospital itself, buy vital equipment and fund essential research. Here’s just a few ways that the money you give could be used
- £10 would pay for a night’s upkeep of the parent accommodation rooms. We used this accommodation ourselves for one of Rory’s ops and it was wonderful to be able to stay close by. As all parents know, when children are poorly, they just want to be close to mum and dad
- £120 would pay for a flowmeter helping to regulate the flow of oxygen and air to a sick baby
- £800 would fund a vital signs monitor enabling immediate response to changes.
All contributions will be greatly appreciated.

And, if any one fancies coming along to the event itself to cheer me on and enjoy the live music, entertainment and food festival, just drop me a line.
Thanks in advance and see you soon.
