The 12 miles of Christmas

Pauline Eccles is raising money for National Emergencies Trust

The 12 miles of Christmas · 13 December 2020

We are an independent charity that offers people one trusted place to donate during a national emergency. We collaborate with charities and groups all over the UK to raise and distribute funds to support survivors and their loved ones. With your generosity, we can ensure that no one is left behind.

Story

Welcome to "The 12 miles of Christmas".

Since I started at Muller I have enjoyed organising a Chrismas Lunch/Dinner for the Private Label Commercial team; we have gone out and spent some much needed time away from the office, enjoying good food, good company, sharing anecdotes, Secret Santa's and if I am drunk enough I've been known to sing a song.

This year however we now know is going to be very different; with no "large get-togethers", therefore the money that we would normally spend treating ourselves could be put to good use in donating to charities.  With Lockdowns happening, charities have found it really hard this year to fundraise, so are relying on events like ours even more.

So what is "The 12 miles of Christmas", put simply it is to run, walk or cycle 12 miles in aid of the National Emergencies Trust, whilst donating what you would have spent on going out as a team.

I am suggesting 2 weekends within which to complete this 5/6th December and 12/13th December. Take an opportunity to "buddy" up with a colleague, we are allowed to meet one other at the moment for exercise, challenge yourself to achieve the distance in 1 go, take a picnic and just enjoy the scenery; however if you want to split the distance over a few sessions then that is also perfect.

I expect to see lots of christmassy themed photos, so don't be afraid to wear a christmas hat, jumper or deer antlers.

Most of all have fun whilst keeping fit!
