Story
Hello! Between the 8th and 14th August Light into Europe supporter Paul Georgescu will be swimming 22 miles across the North Channel from Northern Ireland to the Mull of Galloway in Scotland to raise money for our work.
Paul will be swimming in rough seas with a water temperature of 13°C. With the currents, it is likely that the 22 mile route will actually end up being around 25-30 miles. He intends to undertake the challenge (weather permitting) sometime between the 8th and 14th August and it is anticipated to take between 10-12 hours to complete the cross channel swim.
This is Paul's latest swim as part of the Oceans 7 swim, crossing seven open water channels around the world battling currents, sharks, jellyfish, fatigue and the weather to conquer one of the most demanding challenges on the globe. To date only 16 people have completed the challenge!
Paul is swimming in support of Light into Europe to raise funds to continue our work supporting Blind and Deaf people in Romania to live independent, fulfilled lives through the support and training given by our programme. We receive no government support to continue our work so we rely on your generosity and say a huge thank you to Paul for supporting us with this challenge and you for your donations!
