Anglesey Coastal Walk for World Peace Flame · 30 March 2019
About the World Peace Flame
This fund-raising effort celebrates the 20th anniversary of the World Peace Flame – a symbol that is dedicated to achieving peace through education and practical initiatives. It inspires people around the world to play their own, individual roles in creating peace at every level.
About 'Peace in Your Hands'
The 'Peace in Your Hands' Education Pack includes a Teachers’ Guide and Children’s Workbook, containing stories with inspirational messages about teamwork, friendship, courage and perseverance. The pack helps young people to think about how they can contribute to peace in their own communities – their schools, classrooms, neighbourhoods and families.
Making a Difference
More than 80,000 children in nearly 1000 schools across five continents have used the Peace Education Pack since 2010. The pack helps children to celebrate diversity and embrace unity. Today, the need for this awareness and recognition of diversity by young people is greater than ever, and achieving it is one of the main aims of 'Peace in Your Hands.'
What children say
"I learnt that making friends is very important, because you need friends your whole life. And even when you have an argument you always have to make peace again afterwards, even if that’s sometimes hard to do.”
What teachers say
“The most important thing is to listen to the children. They have their own ideas about peace and peacemaking, and how to create a peaceful world. The Peace Education Pack gives us as teachers the tools we need to talk to children about peace.”
"The stories with their special meanings in the Peace Education Pack are wonderful! The children are all very enthusiastic. They talk about it with each other, and they tell their parents about it at home.”
