Event: Great North Run 2016, on 11 September 2016
We work with local charities to help, educate and inspire young people

Story

I’m coming back to my university town, to run the Great North Run, raising money for The Graham Wylie Foundation, Teenage Cancer Trust and Nordoff Robbins. These causes are close to my heart, especially using music as therapy to reach the most vulnerable and isolated people in our community. The Graham Wylie Foundation have generously given a building to Nordoff Robbins so they can build the first music therapy centre outside of London. Teenage Cancer Trust have two units in Newcastle and are the only UK charity focused on helping young people with cancer.

My band, Kaiser Chiefs, will also be playing the after party at the Metro Radio Arena. We’ll be playing some tracks from our new album ’Stay Together’ plus the hits for you. The audience will include lots of runners who have all been raising money for the good causes above. I hope that runners, supporters and everyone else in the region will get behind Run, Rock n Raise and join us at the gig.”
