The Penistone Boundary Walk is a 16 or 8 mile walk around Penistone, taking in some beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The event is taking place on Sunday 21st May. This year we are raising funds for local charity Take Heart, an amazing local charity that helps to make life more comfortable for Heart Patients in the Yorkshire Heart Centre based at Leeds General Infirmary.

Set up thirty three years ago by a group of former patients of the Yorkshire Heart Centre who had undergone surgical procedures and who felt that they must repay the first class treatment they had received.

Their aims and objectives then were the same then as they are now - to help make life for patients, staff and relatives of the Heart Centre more comfortable and to try to alleviate some of the anxieties which weigh heavily on patients and their relatives at what can be a critical time.

Take Heart helps to supply furniture for wards, provide free bedside TV and phone calls for all heart patients, provide up to date equipment for staff, provide a roof garden adjacent to the heart wards to provide a breath of fresh air for patients, visitors and staff. Importantly, they also provide en-suite accommodation for out-of-town relatives completely free of charge.

Take Heart is a uniquely voluntary charity - no wages are paid so all donations go straight to the people that need them the most!
