Climbing Mount Fuji · 24 August 2016

Dreamflight gives children with serious illnesses or disabilities the holiday of a lifetime – from magical trips to Orlando to UK adventures that build confidence and independence. These experiences help children grow, feel celebrated, and discover their potential.

Story

A British Airways Boeing 747 is chartered once per year and children spend 10 magical days away from family, to discover independence, confidence, and a whole new outlook on life. Many could not undertake such a trip without the support of the army of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and non-medical volunteers who care for the children 24 hours a day.

It costs £3500 to take 1 child on this holiday of a lifetime and in order to make this annual trip possible, Dreamflight need to raise in excess of £750,000 a year.

So what will Pete be doing?

Mount Fuji is the highest mountain peak in Japan, standing at 12,389ft, lying 100km to the south west of Tokyo. The terrain is challenging, involving scrambling over rocks, tackling tricky trails and uneven surfaces, compounded by the fact that the weather can, and does, change rapidly.

The group of trekkers will be collected early evening and taken to the mountain, ready to start the night climb of the mountain. They will climb quickly, in a race to beat the rising sun, in the hope of arriving at the summit by sunrise. It is an arduous trek, but one which will be worth every step taken.

Please donate what you can, and know that every penny is helping to put smiles on children's faces and creating lasting memories.
