We support adults with disabilities to realise their potential

Story

The Missenden Walled Garden charity provides day support for adults with disabilities or mental health issues based within the grounds of Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire. Our dedicated team of staff and local volunteers help our ‘gardeners’ to grow and reach their potential through a mix of outdoor and indoor activities. The educational element of our work is critical as it provides our gardeners with a real sense of achievement and recognition for the effort they put in and delivers lasting impact.

My son Albert is a Horticultural Therapist with MWG and I am inspired by him and the work he does with the members there. I get to hear first hand the positive impact that he, his colleagues and the charity has on those that attend there.

About the charity

We provide day opportunities, primarily for adults with learning disabilities - our 'Members'. Our Members, staff and volunteers work together as a team, having fun and learning about horticulture. Together, we grow plants and produce to nurture and maintain our 10 Acre home at Missenden Abbey.
