Peter Coxon Taylor 28.2.51 - 20.7.09 Age 58
Pete died suddenly in Kenya while on holiday. He had worked on Rolls Royce Fire Service in Derby for 25 years prior to joining East Midlands Ambulance Service in 2003 and was an in service ECA at time of death. He had enjoyed life to the full, ran marathons, was a triathlete, keen walker and expert scuba diver. He had always worked in a caring role and had a huge personality to match his 6'3" presence. He will be very much missed by his family: wife Tiggy, sons Karl, Luke & Sam, daughter Zoe, friends and colleagues on East Midlands Ambulance service.
Here in the UK we are fortunate to have an air ambulance service that will be called to patients in critical circumstances and locations and we should treasure this service, our East Midlands Ambulance Service and National Health Service when comparing it to the minimal emergency facilities available in Kenya.
It is a fitting memorial that I ask for donations to the Air Ambulance Service and I hope in some small way the monies raised will go some small way to supporting this fantastic servie.
