The Lakeland 50 has been a target of mine for the last 3 years. It is 50 miles of running starting at the Dalmain Estate on Ullswater and finishes in Coniston. There is a stupid amount of climbing up some very steep passes and a lot of running back down the other side!

As some of you will know my past, I worked for 20 years as an outdoor instructor teaching young people life skills in the outdoors. Although at present I do not work in the industry it is still a passion of mine.  I’ve worked with youth organisations such as the Scouts, were I assisted in leading serval hundred young scouts to Uganda on expeditions and community work for just short of a decade! I have also worked with vulnerable young people who just needed a little guidance.

My passion for this industry came from my Scout and youth leaders and it was them that supplied me the opportunity enjoy the outdoors and respect it. These leader such as Phil Morley and Marv Tackle inspired me to work out in the industry.

This wonderful charity helps provide young people and n Cumbria a chance to experience some of what I have and I would love to help give something back to anindustry that has inspired me and many of young people. The proceeds go towards assisting youth projects  such as scouting and junior tri club run, and junior policec cadets! The charity has assisted in setting up a forest school we’re in a month 1500 young people have attended course and them to get closer to our natural environment. 

If you can spare a little I would be very very great full and I would love my children’s generation  and future generations to experience some of what I have and if it’s not for charities like these some will not be able to survive without additional funding.
