My amazing mum Isla Henry first got breast cancer in 1995, she was 46 and I was fifteen. After some tough chemotherapy and radiotherapy she was given the all clear. After around ten years she was again diagnosed with cancer. After more tough treatment she went into remission and 16 good months, then a couple tough ones before she passed away on July 28th 2007 at the age of 58.
Far too young and a devastating blow to our family and friends. She fought hard and kept good spirits with a sense of humour throughout. She enjoyed company and laughs with friends and family until not long before she passed away, after she decided 'I can't be bothered anymore'.
Since then this disease has continued attacking my family with my Uncle Nick at 64 in 2011 and my three Aunts; Susan 64 - 2011, Betty 72 in 2012 & Irene 67 in 2015 all passing from this relentless disease.
I have agreed to attempt to fundraise £600 for Macmillan Cancer Support, sponsoring myself the £69 entry fee. Macmillan Cancer Support helps everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support.
