We’re the carers, researchers, health care professionals, friends & fundraisers, all united in our ambition to ensure that one day, no one will have to live with the pain, fatigue & isolation that arthritis causes.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have suffered with arthritis since I was 5 years old and was treated with high doses of steroids. These kept me alive and prevented me becoming crippled which was the general outcome of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis pre steroids, however the other effects of these drugs can be dangerous and also cause long-term problems.

More modern treatments are slightly more effective but again many have unfortunate side effects.

What we need is a cure.

I am riding as a personal challenge as although I have ridden most of my life I had at least 10 years with virtually no cycling due to my hip. I decided this was a poor excuse and I have found that since returning to cycling 2 years ago the more I ride the better and stronger my hip becomes. I am still putting off the hip replacement and have never ridden this distance before although I am now up to 60 miles. How hard can another 40 be???

Please help by donating to Arthritis Research UK for my ride and help find a cure.
