London to Brighton Challenge 2018 · 26 May 2018 to 27 May 2018 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Since September 2017 I have trained hard, and in the last 4 weeks run 4 marathons, including the Pembrokeshire Ultra Marathon. I now feel ready to take on the 100km (62 miles) from London to Brighton on Saturday May 26th.
Whilst running is a way I relax I am on this occasion raising money and awareness for SeeKenya.
SeeKenya is a UK based charity founded in 2013 by myself and my wife Rachel.
On our last visit in February 2018, we came across more heart breaking situations of children and young people who have lost their eye sight through treatable disease. The pictures below show 2 teenage boys Roy and Dennis, both have an eye disease Keratoconus. Dennis is already blind and Roy is fast heading that way. However, in partnership with Lions First Hospital in Nairobi we can restore or save their sight. Dennis needs corneal grafts costing around £3,000.00 and Roy 'cross-linking' £750.00. Just think of the 'life change' these surgeries would make, enabling them to continue in education, and a follow a career.
I have also included 2 further photos of Agnes and Elias, both came to our clinics, both were blind simply for the need of 'strong' prescription glasses. Your donations will help hundreds of similar young people to regain their eye sight.
For Elias in particular his visit to the clinic has truly been life changing. Elias is an orphan and although attending a school had fallen over 4 years behind in his study due to his blindness. Not only was Seekenya been able to restore his sight with glasses, but we were also able to link him to a Kenyan charity that has now secured funding and a place in a local boarding school. He is excelling in his studies and making rapid progress. The photo below shows Elias on our last trip acting as my translator for the day, he is fluent in 3 languages.
Please consider what you can give to make a change for hundreds of young people suffering without eye care.
