On Sunday 20th November I’ll be running the tweed valley 50km Ultra Marathon. I'm raising money for Faces & Voices of Recovery UK, a charity promoting advocacy and equal rights for those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate £5 or £500. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for your support. I've included information about Faces & Voices of Recovery UK below:
What do we do? We plan and deliver the national UK Recovery Walk/Event in the UK each year.
Why? To give a face and a voice to people and families recovering addiction.
How do we do it? Promote other activities to take place within the recovery month, September each year. Provide a national celebration point for people in recovery. Provide a link and facilitate recovery advocates to contribute to, organising, policy, and research. Promote advocacy skills through free downloadable resources.
To facilitate and respond to the needs of recovery advocates throughout the UK.
To celebrate and educate the general public and media about the positive aspects of recovery.
To educate public perceptions of recovery and support the promotion of effective public policy in the UK.
Provide web site with information for advocates, activists, families, and those in long-term recovery on how to get involved in their communities.
Provide materials that will help to challenge stigma end discrimination against people with addiction and those in recovery.
Provide a yearly calendar of events that helps promote recovery activities across the UK.
