Story
Every day 25 people are diagnosed with a Brain Tumour in this country, thats over 9100 a year.
Brain Tumours are the biggest cancer killer of Children and Adults under 40.
In December 2012 and immediately following giving birth to our daughter Esme, my wife, Vicki Morana was diagnosed with having a Anaplastic Astrocytoma Brain Tumour. To this day i do not know where Vicki got the strength from to go through Labour, Brain Surgery and 6 weeks of Radiotherapy in the space of 4 months but she did and continues to go from strength to strength. In March, 2014 Vicki returned to work, another milestone achieved in defeating this terrible thing.
Nothing I can do or say will show the eternal gratitude to;
Staff at Ormskirk Maternity Ward for saving Vicki
Walton Centre Neurological Team for a successful Operation.
All the staff at Clatterbridge
Liverpool Neurosupport
The Brain Tumour Charity
Family & Friends
Our daughter Esme, being born and by doing so bringing on the chain of events that allowed early diagnosis and treatment.
As a small thankyou though, in this year and beyond I have decided to start to raise money and awareness of Brain Tumours by raising funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.
This year, 2014 will see me run a series of 7 10K runs. Training has started and I have recently ran just under 10K in 59 mins. The target of breaking the 50 Min mark by the end of race 7 seems a long way off.
We appreciate that many of you reading this have your own charities that you support so it doesnt have to be just your money that you can give to support Myself, Vicki and the Brain Tumour Charity.
1) Donate If you can
2) Run in 1 or more of the 7 events I will be doing during 2014. (Please let me know in advance and i will arrange for Brain Tumour Charity T-shirts to be supplied)
3) Be aware of the Brain Tumour Charity and all the good work it does at www.braintumourcharity.org
Vicki has said she may even run or walk one of the 10K's if we raise enough money!! Thanks for reading the above, it would be great to see some of our friends out on the course so get in touch.
