Isis to Brixton · 13 November 2022

Trailblazers reduces re-offending among young people. We provide support both inside Youth Offending Institutions (YOIs) and on release into the community by matching beneficiaries with volunteer mentors. We support young people to reach their potential and lead a life free from crime.

Story

I am walking just under 20 miles on 13th November 2022 from HMP Isis to HMP Brixton to raise at least £700, celebrating my 70th birthday.

Trailblazers provides mentors for young offenders in the last period of their sentence with the primary objective of supporting them build crime free lives and thereby reducing re-offending. I am a trustee of Trailblazers and during a recent visit to one of the prisons, where we provide support, a repeat  offender (drug-related) described our project manager (who matches mentors with mentees) as his "guardian angel". I want to help him and other young men who are desperate to break their cycle of re-offending.

Trailblazers needs at least £35,000 every month to provide this service and more information can be found at www.trailblazersmentoring.org.uk.
