Story

This is a 'Just Giving' page for our Father, Peter John Parmenter. In October 2020 Dad endured a hard battle against Covid-19. Sadly this virus had such an aggressive impact on Dad's Dementia with Lewy Bodies, that he deteriorated significantly over the past few months with him passing away peacefully on the 12th January 2021 with us by his side.

So many people have requested to make a donation to our chosen charity in his memory. We have chosen the charity ‘Golden Memories at Watford Football Club’.

Golden Memories is a reminiscence programme aimed at those living with mild to moderate dementia, taking a journey together down the yellow brick road of Watford FC history.

The group uses a host of Watford FC memorabilia and magic moments to stimulate the senses and evoke personal memories. Not only does the programme focus on reminiscence but also acts as a tool to reintroduce physical activity whether that be chair exercises or table football.

Golden Memories held a special place in Dad’s heart and it was a place where he gained so much support and formed great friendships. In the last few years that he attended, he experienced so much enjoyment and they remained a consistent support to him during this time and throughout lockdown which was reassuring and comforting to us as a family.

With your donations Golden Memories will be able to continue helping others facing similar challenges to what Dad experienced and he would be so pleased to know that a difference will be made in his name.

We are heartbroken over losing Dad. We feel so proud and privileged to call him our Dad. He simply was the best. We would like to thank you all, for the support you gave him and have given us over the past couple of months. Dad fought his battle with dementia with bravery, honesty and integrity. It has been heartwarming to hear such lovely stories and memories about Dad from you all. To everyone he was such a lovely, caring, happy, smiling man who had a passion for music, dancing, golf, laughter and his family and friends. To us he was so much more and we will treasure our memories forever.

With all our love and heartfelt thanks, Nicole and Amaelia xxx
