Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’ve decided to take part in this years Isle of Wight Challenge on July 10/11th and raise money for Mental Health Research Uk. The challenge will see me run/walk 66 miles around the Islands costal path. This is a challenge in itself, but I’ve chosen to go one step further and carry a 40lb military backpack for the duration of the event! I’m also aiming to break the 24 hour time limit which will certainly test my speed, mental robustness and physical endurance.

In 2019 my family sadly lost an amazing man, Steve, who lost his long suffering battle with mental health after 40+ years which lead to him sadly taking his own life. Steve genuinely had a heart of gold and was a very special man. He was an amazing uncle to my wife Katie, son Rhys and brother In-law Lee, and a fantastic brother to his siblings Sharon and Chris. Had there been a clearer understanding about how to deal with Mental Health 40 years ago we might not have received this devastating news and Steve could have enjoyed the life he so very much deserved. This is the reason I’ve chosen to raise money For Mental Health Research UK, so we can get a clearer understanding of how to identify MH at the earliest opportunity and how we can combat MH, preventing further families from receiving such devastating news.

We might not be able to do anything about our past, but we can certainly do something about our future and your donations will massively help towards this by funding future research and scholarships to get more doctors and scientists trained in this highly complex area.

Mental Health is an invisible wound which everyone is susceptible to at any time and unfortunately some of you may have already had to deal with this personally or know of someone who has had their own battle with this cruel illness. I would be forever grateful if you could donate, it doesn’t matter how big or small the amount every little helps towards this amazing cause!

I will be keeping people updated through Facebook on how the training is going and I’ll  be posting videos on the day of the event every few miles so you can keep track of my progress.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and donating, I’m forever grateful!
